Last month we met with Fred Langley, founder of Shildon & Dene Valley Independent Party and with its first sitting councillor, Cllr Luan Deakin. 

We asked why the need for a new party in Shildon and discussed its manifesto, including the themes of local representation, the threatened closure of Sunnydale School, mental health, young people and the party's aspirations.
